A photo-reportage revealing a landscape that is a far cry from the images that spring to mind when we think of the Andes. Piaggesi explored La Payunia in Argentina, a volcanic area and nature reserve. A land as rough as it is fascinating and uncontaminated, where incredible animals roam between layers of earth, stone and sky and where the Malacara Volcano rests since becoming dormant nine thousand years ago. The panorama known as Las Pampas Negras is characterised by the bizarre shapes created by lava flows cooled over time.
