In 2014, the photographer set off on a solo journey to Malawi. With its dry, burning soil where water the most precious and coveted of goods, this land is nicknamed “the warm heart of Africa”. And to help finance the construction of new wells, Ferrari has put together a photo book telling the story of faces, lives and villages through black-and-white pictures. Simple, genuine, direct. The Wishing Well is the name of the volunteer-run project which, to date, has built 72 wells, supplying over 40,000 people with fresh water.
