The young final-year students of the advanced professional course at the Istituto Italiano di Fotogradia took on the challenge of portraying – with complete freedom of expression – a highly imaginative work by Stefano Benni: Il bar sotto il mare (“The Café Under the Sea”). This collection of short stories immersed in a surreal atmosphere represented the perfect opportunity for the young photographers to express their creativity. The result? A diverse and extremely lively panorama wherein some preferred to summarise a single image while others chose a series; some followed a style similar to the world of fashion while others experimented with photo reportages or portrait photography.
