We are overwhelmed by the din of thousands of images, it seems we no longer have time to think before we press the shutter button. Photographs scream, they clamour, but in a few moments they are forgotten. Silence must be conquered, which is why Raoul Iacometti created the project/ workshop Il silenzio in fotografia (Silence in photography) in which the participants had an experience where taking a photograph was the last step in a series of thoughts, pauses, dialogues and moments of listening. Despite the use of the latest digital cameras and mobile phones, they contemplated waiting, savouring the moment before each shot.
