The relationship with oneself is at the heart of De Marchi’s work. His search for contact came about following a moment of crisis, and self-portraiture was the means through which he re-encountered himself and re-found his place in the world.

In a crisis, whether personal or global, one must first rediscover oneself and one’s boundaries in order to then relocate oneself in relation to the other and to nature. Eric De Marchi thus offers us the mapping of the self through an intimate series of self-portraits that speak of love, care and attention.
