Alexander Gabriel’s photographs are mellow black and white shots taken underwater. His project is highly metaphorical: the apnoea of the title is what one feels during a panic attack. The photographer takes us with him beneath the surface, to discover his inner world and the feelings that envelop him during one of these attacks: an underwater journey into the meanders of the soul. An entirely personal story, but one that can become profoundly universal through the weight of the sensations recalled.
