In the folds of the everyday, beyond the gaze, the stereotype, the commonplace in the literal sense of the expression, lies a hidden unusual. What is unusual in Milan are the Cascine, that have been incorporated and gentrified by the urban fabric, a hidden treasure of at least 60 municipal farmsteads and as many private ones scattered throughout the territory. Bello’s reportage tackles the concept of discrimination: the photographer juxtaposes social battles with the ones Cascine are fighting to emerge and be considered equal to the Milanese landscape in which they are located. The project is part of the exhibition “Images, beyond borders”.
