Though the photographer knows the world out there, now, looking out of a train window, it’s as if she’s seeing it for the first time. It feels like watching a video screen, which is why the photographer uses an emotional style immersed in a dreamlike dimension where time expands. The outline of an industrial building placed side by side with a series of wind turbines; a view of wind-bent stalks of wheat superimposed on the outline of a house; trees that look like they’re caressing the landscape. Roberta Scardamaglia scratches her photographs, spanning the skies with thin, sharp marks so as to immerse us in an atmosphere where everything is surrounded by a fascinating aura of mystery.
