As part of the History & Photography project, this exhibition features some 60 shots portraying the great black (and other) music icons of the jazz world taken during the famous ‘Golden Age of Jazz’: that period when the musical Olympus boasted names such as Billie Holiday, Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and Louis Armstrong. Moving through a nocturnal and evocative New York is Gottlieb, special correspondent for the Washington Post, who captures an incisive musical and cultural panorama of American history.
